Golf

Member-owned, the Club offers one of Central Texas' most challenging and manicured golf courses, an 18-hole layout that provides a true test to golfers of all levels and an extensive practice range.

Built in the hills of northwest Austin in 1971, PGA legend Don January and architect Billy Martindale designed Great Hills to be challenging, scenic and fun.  As a host for many PGA and USGA sanctioned tournaments as well as competitive events for men and women of all abilities.

The front nine is open, winding along ridges that offer breath-taking vistas, but challenging you with winds that make many of the holes play differently depending on the conditions.

The back nine is where the fun really starts at Great Hills – a place where a wayward shot or painfully poor iron can humble your round.  There are three par fives and three par threes to challenge you.  The signature 17th is a beautiful little three par with white sand bunkers.  The 18th is a sporty par five that should be played at least once in the late afternoon when long shadows stretch deep over the fairway.

In 2001, the club added Champions® tiff greens, creating putting surfaces that consistently run fast and true.  The course requires power, precision and most of all your attention, lest you become mesmerized by the natural surroundings, beauty and wildlife.

For instruction, equipment or fashion off the course, the pro shop offers the finest with PGA certified professionals that consistently rank among the best in the state.

“This course lets golfers enjoy the vistas and valleys of the Texas Hills Country.  On the back side, holes are carved along streams and creeks to deepen the peace and natural beauty of the land.”
